Every day we make choices. Those choices range from what to wear [or not], whether to call / text a friend [or not] to what one eats [or not!]. Although these choices may not yield an immediate consequence, it is guaranteed that there will be one. If a person chooses to not wear clothes and walk down the street, there will be a response, quickly. However, the effect of no contact with a friend may take some time to manifest. This is the same with our choices in what we eat and how we choose to exercise [or not].
Our digestive tract puts in hard work daily – filtering food to extract nutrients and then eliminating the waste. When choosing what to eat, oftentimes it is not considered how hard the digestive system will have to work in order to do its job. And many choose to eat for temporary satisfaction instead of considering the long term benefits or lack thereof. But for the sake of the hardest working system in your body [the digestive system] be cognizant of what you eat AND drink. Consider how often you are working out. It is not necessary that you become a professional athlete but certainly devote 30 – 60 minutes a day about 4-5 times a week to some form of movement that gets your heart pumping and blood flowing. In addition, consider learning a few yoga poses for flexibility and an increase in movement throughout the gut.
Choose to eat foods that are not processed, loaded with sugar, and / or fried and grease ladened. Choose foods that are nutrient dense, contain fiber, lean protein, and healthy fats. Choose to get moving.
Your gut. Your sweat. Your choice. ‘
