Share your career and / or business. I am part-owner of a real estate investment company, Aqua Team Properties, LLC. Currently, we own and invest in properties in FL and Maryland. We are looking to expand in other surrounding states, as well as our hometown of Fayetteville, NC.
Why did you choose to take on this role, career path, or business? After acquiring a bachelors degree in psychology and a masters degree in mental health counseling, I decided that there’s got to be more in life than working tirelessly for someone else. I had already been interested in real estate investing for a while and I truly believe that there is tremendous benefit in entrepreneurship. I’m at a place in my life where I want to develop multiple streams of sustainable income. Statistics have shown that real estate has paved the way to financial freedom for so many people. Ultimately, I thought, “If they can do it, why not me?!?”
What is your driving force? My driving force to strive for more is and has always been my beautiful daughter, Taneya. She is my inspiration to be the best version of me that I can be. I am determined to build generational wealth for her and her children’s children. Like Beyonce said, “My great, great, grandchildren already rich!” It all starts with a mindset, followed by consistent action. “Faith without works is dead”.
When things get tough in your career / business, what keep you going?
When things get tough, I simply remember whose daughter I am. I was NOT BUILT TO BREAK!
Share with us one woman who has had a positive impact on your life
The one woman who had the biggest impact on my life was my lovely mother, Barbara Melvin. She demonstrated tenacity, resiliency, and elegance.
What one piece of advice has been most influential to you?
